Keynote Speakers

Dr. Michael Kerr: Dr. Kerr is a psychiatrist who trained under Murray Bowen at Georgetown Medical School and worked with him for over twenty years. Dr. Kerr was named Director of the Bowen Center of the Study of the Family in 1990. He had contact with the late Walter Toman, whose ideas about sibling position were incorporated by Bowen into his theory. Kerr co-authored with Murray Bowen "Family Evaluation." He is the editor of "Family Systems," a journal specializing in Bowen theory and its applications.

Dr. Walter F. Taylor, Jr.: Dr. Taylor is the Ernest W. and Edith S. Ogram Professor of New Testament Studies and Director of Graduate Studies at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, where he has served since 1981. Previously he was a parish pastor. He earned his Ph.D. at Claremont Graduate University. He has also studied at Yale University Divinity School and was a Fulbright Professor at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, in 1988-1989. He has published 140 books, articles, chapters, reviews, and audio-visual materials.

Dr. Emlyn Ott: Dr. Ott has served as a parish pastor, campus minister, pastoral counselor, leader and seminary professor during the past 20 years. Current Executive Director of Healthy Congregations, Inc., she is Assistant Professor of Ministry and Pastoral Leadership at Trinity Lutheran Seminary and works in the area of Congregational Life and Leadership theory.

This year’s gathering will be held both at the Martin de Porres Center and at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.

A block of 60 rooms are reserved for National Gathering participants. When making hotel reservations please indicate the conference dates and that you are a part of the "Healthy Congregations conference." The cost is $75 per night. This cost includes a hot breakfast in the morning. Wireless internet is available. There is also a shuttle available from the hotel to Easton Towne Center. Shuttle service to and from the airport is provided. Upon arrival at the airport go to baggage claim and call the hotel from the phone available.

Each Healthy Congregations participant will need to reserve their own room for the event.

Golf Outing Opportunities

One of the more beloved traditions of the National Gathering is the golf outing.  We continue this tradition again this year.
